Welcome to the Nurmes Summer Academy 5-13 July 2025.
Registration is open until May 4th !
Nurmes Summer Academy & Summer Music oozes skill, knowledge, and hope. Our festival annually brings together up to 80 music students for the most versatile masterclasses of the summer. In addition to personal teaching, students can participate in various workshops.
The course fee includes a concert pass to all Summer Music events and rides in Nurmes during the course.
The students' concerts are integrated into the festival offering.
Hyvärilä Youth and Holiday Centre offers a great setting to enjoy the beauty of Pielinen Karelia and the endless charm of summer evenings.

COURSE FEE: €400
- includes 5 x 45min private lessons, at least one optional workshop (3x60min or 3x90min), a concert pass for Summer Music events, and transportation in Nurmes.
- The price of an additional private lesson for those who have paid the full course fee is 55€/45min (limited availability)

(In 2-6 person cabins, incl. accommodation, bed linen, full board meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening snack), starting with dinner on the day of arrival and ending with lunch on the day of departure, sauna)

WORKSHOPS
The Nurmes Summer Academy wants to emphasize the importance of a musician's versatile education.
The master courses offer
diving
to the life of a performing artist.
In addition to private tuition, the course fee includes workshops from song and dance workshops through chamber music to composition workshops.

ACCOMMODATION and FOOD
Accommodation and meals for the students of the Summer Academy are organized in Hyvärilä's idyllic Youth & Holiday Centre on the shore of Lake Pielinen. Meals included in the full board are served at a standing table in the main building's Manor Restaurant. Teaching takes place in the Hyvärilä area and in the center of Nurmes. The Summer Academy organizes minibus transport between the city center and Hyvärilä throughout the masterclass week.

TEACHING and PRACTICE FACILITIES and STUDENT CONCERTS
The teaching of the Summer Academy will take place both in the area of the Hyvärilä Youth & Holiday Centre and in the center of Nurmes.
In Hyvärilä, teaching facilities are found in the barn building and in the manor building. The teaching facilities in the center are at Nurmes house, Kirkkokatu school (wooden school and stone school), Nurmes church (organ), Orthodox church (harpsichord and baroque workshop), and Rukoushuone (accompaniment lessons).
The Summer Academy student concerts are part of the Nurmes Summer Music Festival program!

SAVOLINNA SUMMER UNIVERSITY
Nurmes Summer Academy is organized in cooperation with Savonlinna Summer University.
The Summer Academy is part of the Summer University's liberal arts education, and state aid is channeled through the Summer University to organize it. The cooperation between the two educational organizations brings stability and predictability to the operation.
