Nurmes Summer Academy & Summer Music Festival radiate skill, knowledge, and hope. Each year, our festival brings together up to 80 music students for some of the most diverse masterclasses of the summer. In addition to individual tuition, students can take part in a wide variety of workshops. The course fee also includes a concert pass to all Summer Music Festival events as well as minibus transportation to concerts and lessons.
Students’ own concerts are fully integrated into the Summer Music Festival programme, offering valuable performance opportunities in a professional festival setting.
The Hyvärilä Tourism Centre provides an inspiring setting to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Pielinen Karelia and the endless magic of Nordic summer evenings.

COURSE FEE: 395 €
- includes 5 x 45min private lessons, at least one optional workshop (3x60min or 3x90min), a concert pass for Summer Music events, and transportation in Nurmes.
- The price of an additional private lesson for those who have paid the full course fee is 55€/45min (limited availability)

ABOUT SUMMER ACADEMY

MASTER COURSES
Nurmes Summer Academy invites you to immerse yourself in outstanding masterclasses across 12 different instruments as well as composition, guided by leading artists and educators. Alongside personalised individual tuition, the course fee includes at least one elective workshop, a concert pass to all Summer Music Festival events, and local transportation within Nurmes—ensuring a seamless and enriching artistic experience from start to finish.

WORKSHOPS
Nurmes Summer Academy emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded musical education. Our masterclasses offer a full immersion into the life of a performing artist.
In addition to individual tuition, the course fee includes a variety of workshops, ranging from chamber music to composition and arrangement.

ACCOMMODATION and FOOD
Accommodation and meals for the students of the Summer Academy are organized in Hyvärilä's idyllic Youth & Holiday Centre on the shore of Lake Pielinen. Meals included in the full board are served at a standing table in the main building's Manor Restaurant. Teaching takes place in the Hyvärilä area and in the center of Nurmes. The Summer Academy organizes minibus transport between the city center and Hyvärilä throughout the masterclass week.

TEACHING and PRACTICE FACILITIES and STUDENT CONCERTS
The teaching of the Summer Academy will take place both in the area of the Hyvärilä Youth & Holiday Centre and in the center of Nurmes.
The teaching facilities in the center are at Nurmes house, Kirkkokatu school, Nurmes church (organ), Orthodox church (harpsichord and baroque workshop), and Rukoushuone (accompaniment lessons).
The Summer Academy student concerts are part of the Nurmes Summer Music Festival program!
